OVERVIEW

A Palladian mansion and 18^th century landscape garden offering lakeside walking routes accented by magical grottos, classical temples, and no shortage of enchanting viewpoints.

The site, immaculately maintained by the National Trust, is a photographer’s dreamland, and it’s no wonder it has served as a popular wedding destination and filming location (Hello, Pride and Prejudice!).

It had been a while since I’d spent some quality time with my DSLR just for the fun of capturing something beautiful, and so as the Autumn colours were just beginning to emerge on the Wiltshire/Somerset border, I armed myself with a vintage lens I wanted to take for spin and couldn’t think of a better location than Stourhead to let it prove its metal.

Below is a selection of my favourite images from the day, I am beyond pleased with the warm reds and vibrant greens the lens has emphasised, and I could have marvelled for hours at the soft light pouring into the Regency library.

Upon its opening in the 1740s, a magazine described the estate as a “living work of art”. I would have to say that I wholeheartedly agree.
